statement on inclusion

Ottawa Dyke March is for ALL dykes.

For us, dyke refers to any and all persons who identify as such. This includes people of marginalized gender identities, meaning Two-Spirit, trans, nonbinary, gender non-conforming, cis and intersex dykes. This also includes intersex dykes and dykes of diverse sexualities. Queer, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, asexual, and other sapphic dykes are welcomed with open arms.

We specifically extend a warm welcome to Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC), refugees and newcomers, trans dykes, bisexual dykes, disabled dykes, older dykes, dykes of religious minorities, fat dykes, sex workers, and drug users. It is important to us to resist all systems of oppression in our organizing, with the knowledge that these marginalized communities are disproportionately harmed in many dyke spaces. We also welcome the presence of community members with a dyke history and dykes’ families and friends.
